QUOTE
“Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”
- Dolly Parton

Does it get any better than Dolly Parton praising God on stage?
In the hustle of building a career, it's easy to lose sight of what's truly important.
We often find ourselves trapped in the mindset of "I need to make more" so we can do "x, y, z" and then, only then, we can start living the life we want.
But this kind of thinking can be dangerous.
Time flies by, and if we're always chasing the next level of success, we might miss out on the beautiful moments happening right in front of us.
I think about this a lot, especially as I watch my kids grow up so quickly.
It makes me worry that I'm not being as intentional as I could be in creating memories or teaching them important life lessons.
I don't want to look back and realize I was too focused on work to really be present with them.
And then, I think about someone like Dolly Parton. I imagine her as someone carefree, living life with a smile and a song.
Maybe that's just a made-up version of her, but it's an inspiring image nonetheless.
We should all strive to be a bit more like Dolly—not so caught up in work that we forget to live.
WISDOM
Learn to play chess, but not well.
"The ability to play chess is the sign of a gentleman. The ability to play chess well is the sign of a wasted life."
Paul Morphy once said this, maybe the best chess player in the world in the 1850s, and it's always stuck with me, I haven't been able to shake it

No disrespect to chess players out there, but as men, fathers, and husbands, we have to be incredibly mindful of where we invest our time and energy.
We only have so much of it, and it’s crucial to be strategic.
Now, chess is an excellent game for sharpening your mind and enhancing your strategic thinking. That's undeniably valuable.
However, mastering chess, or any other pursuit that doesn't align with your core priorities, can be a time sink.
It's worth asking yourself: What in your life are you spending time on that, when you really think about it, doesn't add much value?
Personally, I’m feeling an increasing sense of urgency to prioritize what aligns with our family’s values as I see how quickly time is passing.
Anyone else feel that way?
ACTION
Be an observer with logic.
Warren Buffet once said that you will continue to suffer if you have an emotional reaction to everything that is said to you.
True power is sitting back and observing things with logic.
True power is restraint.
If words control you, that means everyone else can control you.
Breathe and allow things to pass.
Easier said than done, but definitely something to be mindful of.

But it be like that sometimes….
That’s a wrap, folks!
