It is hard to āthinkā your way out of something youāve been living for years.

The 2-minute weekly newsletter for faith-driven dads.
QUOTE
āYou canāt think yourself out of a pattern you didnāt think yourself into. You practiced yourself into it, so you have to practice your way out.ā
-Justin Whitmel Earley
We often fall into habits and patterns without realizing it, especially when juggling work, family, and everything in between.
The truth is, you canāt just āthinkā your way out of something youāve been living for years.
Whether it's how you handle stress, show up at home, or manage time, you practiced those behaviors, and it's going to take practice to change them.
So, if you want to be a better husband or father, donāt just hope things will improveāput in the work, day in and day out, to break those patterns and build new ones.

The oldest (and best) curriculum for fatherhood is found in the Old Testament:
āHear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.ā (Deuteronomy 6: 4-7)
